I’m a mother, nutritional therapist and author who has been sharing recipes to help you get the glow back for the last 8 years...
Having shiny hair and glowing skin is every girls dream and believe it or not you don’t need actually need a personal stylist to get that shiny, glossy glow. Try using these tips below to get shiny healthy locks and glowing skin without breaking the bank account.
Omega-3 fatty acids are a collection of polyunsaturated fatty acids found in fish and plants. They are usually called essential fatty acids, and the reason is because our bodies need them but do not naturally produce them. These fatty acids regulate the production of oil which keep your skin hydrated and nourished, ultimately preventing premature ageing. The great thing is you can add this into your everyday foods with flaxseed, canola oil, walnuts and soybeans, salmon, herring and tuna.
Silk pillowcases may sound a tad extravagant, but they are actually a beauty secret that has spanned for years. Silk is naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites, so ideal for sensitive skin. While cotton pillows are cosy, cotton is very absorbent, so when you lie on it for 7-8 hours a night all the moisture in your hair and skin (including that expensive face cream you slathered on) is absorbed into the pillow. This means dehydrated locks and face, not good. Slippery silky pillows allow your skin to glide over the surface and doesn’t catch or scratch, equalling less wrinkles in the long run! Your hair also won’t snag like it can with cotton pillows which means less breakage and smooth, sexy hair!
Another one of my secret tips for glowing skin is to add gelatin into your diet, but don’t go reaching for gummy sweets! Pure gelatin is a great source of protein containing 18 amino acids, it’s anti-inflammatory and has been linked to reducing wrinkles, cellulite and helping the liver detox. Miracle? Yes! It comes in a powder form and you can add a tablespoon to your smoothies or morning porridge, it is flavourless and really makes a difference!
If Victoria Secret models swear by rosehip seed oil, then there must be some magic in there! Harvested from the seeds of rose bushes, rosehip seed oil is full of vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids that are said to correct dark spots and hydrate dry, itchy skin, all while reducing scars and fine lines! Apply the light-weight oil at night and wake up with an underwear model-esque glow!
A great way (and a nice way) to keep your skin glowing and hair shining is to treat yourself to some luxurious hair masks and facials, there are so many amazing DIY products available now that it’s no fuss to slap on a mask and sit around the house beautifying. I love the Aveda protein hair mask, it smells incredible and does an amazing job of detangling and repairing damaged hair, you can even leave it in for a more intense effect.
I also cannot recommend enough getting yourself a wonderful facial from PfefferSal London (www.pfeffersal.com) They work wonders on my skin, keeping it bright and beautiful!
