Making your own healthy versions of your favourite traditional treats is the simplest way to stay on track this Christmas. In my home, the festive period is all about food, family and friends and this Raw Christmas Cake is an all round crowd pleaser.
This easy recipe will fill your home with the comforting smell of Christmas spices; I have used ginger, cinnamon and orange which each have fantastic properties for your body. Ginger has been used for thousands of years to cure colds and flus, cinnamon will stabilise your blood sugar levels and orange zest contains a lot of dietary fibre- making it great for those with IBS or digestive issues.
Good For Afternoon Tea, Christmas
225g of medjool dates
1 orange
170g of macadamia nuts
1 tsp of vanilla extract
2 tsp of cinnamon
1/2 tsp of ground ginger
1/2 tsp of ground cloves
1 small pinch of salt
2 tbsp of honey
2 tbsp of coconut oil
Serve with yoghurt, berries and some cinnamon dusted over.
