I’m a mother, nutritional therapist and author who has been sharing recipes to help you get the glow back for the last 8 years...
My skin has changed over the last year: fine lines, dehydration, tiredness. Maybe it’s motherhood and the fact I haven’t slept in for as long as I can remember. Maybe it’s just age! I definitely need to take more care of my complexion now. But recently I’ve upped my meditation game and it’s definitely brought glow back to my skin.
If you want to try it, I’ve got you a special 50% off discount code for my Meditate With Madeleine series – they’re 10 minute meditations for everyday situations. Click here and pop the code MEDITATE50 in at checkout and you’re good to go. I honestly believe that meditation doesn’t take time, it makes time. And, as I’ve recently discovered, it’s amazing for your skin!
Anyway, here’s how:
When I meditate, I can feel every muscle in my face relax. I have a big jaw and I carry a lot of tension there. But meditation softens my tightly gritted teeth and reduces the stress that makes me tense up in the first place. Stress is one of the most ageing things for your skin; I swear meditation is seriously anti-ageing.
Breathe in. Breathe out. Magic! Meditation helps you focus on your breath, which improves blood flow and nourishes your skin from within with oxygen. It makes such a difference that when I make time to meditate I find that don’t need so much makeup in the morning.
Making healthy choices is easier on days I meditate: I don’t get distracted by sugary snacks because I have more energy. Sugar is the enemy of good skin! Meditation makes me slow down and process my thoughts more mindfully, so I don’t jump straight into stress mode and start scoffing everything in sight.
Sleep is one of the best things we can do for our skin because night-time is when our bodies do their repairs. We have a phenomenal innate ability to repair ourselves – what we can do naturally is so much better for our skin than Botox.
After I’ve meditated, I notice a relaxed glow when I look in the mirror. My skin is revived, my eyes seem brighter. Ideally I’d meditate for 20 minutes a day, but sometimes I manage three minutes, and that’s fine. Those tiny droplets of self-care restore my calm and boost my mood. When my skin looks better, I feel more confident too. Let me know how you get on!
