It hasn’t always come naturally but I finally I am Finding Balance Online. A few years ago I was in a bad place with work. I struggled with a forced pressure on myself to share all the time when deep down I’m super private.
I’ve come to an understanding that boundaries are important. I have switched to a old school Nokia for my personal life and have my smart phone for work. I switch it off every night and all weekend to catch some breath. Of course pictures of cute kids, hot hubbies and intimate moments are much loved online. However for my sanity I feel much better seeing social media as work and drawing a line there.
I started my blog to share recipes and wellness tips but I felt like I lost my way enroute as social media changed so much and people became more interested in my private life.
This is not to say my way is the best way but I had to be honest with myself. I found I was flicking through social media all day on days with my son instead of enjoying moments with him.
I now enjoy social media again and feel inspired by it rather than in a constant comparison crisis feeling I was never good enough. I think the new year brings a great time to reevaluate how we use it and what works best for us.
