Before I got interested in wellness I had the worst hair, it was limp, dry and always breaking. Now I’m sure it was also to do with my bleaching addiction, but eating well has definitely made my hair much stronger and full of life. Here are 5 ways to get fuller, thicker hair which can help.
Sometimes referred to as Vitamin H, Biotin promotes healthy hair by increasing the hair’s elasticity and protecting against dryness, which in turn helps prevent breakage. Biotin can also be found in foods such as brown rice, bulgar, lentils and oats.

Much of the structure of hair is made up of collagen which is a bi-product of gelatin. By adding gelatin to your diet, your hair will become stronger and thicker as it grows out from your scalp. Gelatin comes in a powder form and you can add a spoon to your smoothies or morning porridge!
Stir 1 tablespoon of Gelatin powder in to 1/2 cup of cool water until mixed. Add 1/2 cup warm/hot water, 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon of honey to create a thick gel/liquid. Pour into hair and massage through hair and scalp. Leave on for at least 5 minutes and rinse with hot water. Shampoo as normal. Use this a few times a week to get desired hair thickness/strength and then once a week for maintenance.

Your muscles, hair, nails, skin, and eyes are made of protein. Not just for those pumped up weightlifters, by consuming a high dose of protein in the form of powder it will help nourish your hair from the inside. Of course good amounts of protein can also be found in lean meats, kidney beans, nuts and seeds.

Vitamin D is a great supplement as its most commonly found in sunshine! What better excuse to pop to the park on your lunch break? If the rain clouds are out today then some foods which are high in vitamin D are oily fish; herring, trout and smoked salmon, tofu, and hard boiled eggs. That already sounds like a great salad!

Fish oil may sound pretty yuk, but it’s a great hair saving supplement. The oils act as a moisturiser from within preventing dry, itchy scalp and as a result promoting the lustrous, healthy hair which will grow beautifully. Include things like salmon, eggs and soya beans in your meals to get a nice dose of omega 3!
