I’m a mother, nutritional therapist and author who has been sharing recipes to help you get the glow back for the last 8 years...
When I found out I was pregnant I really started trying to add in some superfoods every day. I’ve noticed such difference in my energy and skin since adding them in so I thought I had to share them with you…
These tiny seeds are jam packed with antioxidants, amino acids and proteins which helps regenerate your beautiful skin. They also contain more calcium than a glass of milk! These are great to sneak in your daily diet as you can add a tablespoon of these virtually tasteless little guys to your smoothies, soak in almond milk to make a chia pudding or blend with fruit to make jam.
The copious levels of antioxidants in black rice helps fight toxins and infections and boosts your immunity.
A fragrant and nuttier alternative to regular rice and a little fancier looking; pile it in a bowl with curry or stew or try my black rice porridge from my new book A Year of Beautiful Eating.
Great for keeping our blood clean, which helps keep our liver and kidneys in tip top condition; two of our natural filtering systems. Such a versatile ingredient; blend into waffles, pancakes, smoothies even chocolate cake to give it a richer flavour or keep it savoury and grate into a colorful buddha bowl.
Everyone knows that these babies are packed full of vitamin C but did you know they’re also extremely high in potassium which aids a healthy heart. They are also great at flushing the body of toxins, and helping to balance pH levels in the body. Start your mornings with a squeeze in warm water, add slices into a bottle of water to sip through the day, squeeze it over salads, fish or over mashed avocado on toasted sourdough.
A more obscure one here, but really rich in vitamins B, C and E and provides a healthy source of calcium, zinc, iron, magnesium, phosphorous, and amino acids, great for blood cells, teeth and bone health and acne – a superfood powerhouse! Add the powder into smoothies, juices or porridge to add a warm, sweet, caramelly flavour.
