I’m a mother, nutritional therapist and author who has been sharing recipes to help you get the glow back for the last 8 years...
I have been in Austria this week and have been sleeping better than ever. It might be the fresh air and the quietness but I’ve got a sneaky suspicion its because of my new night time routine.
Here are my 4 tips to get a wonderful nights sleep…
I came across Nuxe when I was living in Paris. I lived by their spa and would pop in regularly to get some goodies. The French are crazy about this brand and for good reason – it’s natural, gorgeous and of course super chic. That’s why I am so excited to have worked with them to create this awesome video about my top foods to help you detox:
Their famous dry oil has always been a staple and I am in love with their new cream Nuxellence Detox*. Before I go to bed, I pop on a tsp of this gorgeous cream to my freshly washed face. This product is a little genius, a night time detoxifier. It’s total magic, you wake up with youthful glowing skin. The natural passionflower, anchusa and poppy ingredients act as a cell energizer repairing the skin (plus giving it is its dreamy smell, which even in itself relaxes me.) It claims to give you skin like you have slept for an extra two hours…and I can vouch for that. Over the last few nights I’ve been up at the crack of dawn preparing for my book launch, and no one has noticed…yet.

Sometimes I need a little aid to get to sleep. Sour cherries are amazing, they help produce the natural sleep hormone melatonin. Munch on a handful of sour/tart cherries or grab them in a supplement form. I love Terra Nova Tart Cherry Powder. It tastes so good, it also helps kill midnight sugar cravings!
We’ve all gone to bed anxious and worried, with a million things racing around our heads. The Answer – Start belly breathing. This simple trick has changed my world!
I place my hands on my belly, close my eyes and start to breathe deeply. Counting 4 slow counts on the inhale, and 6 on the exhale. The deeper exhale helps the body unwind and relax, getting you to sleep – fast. Repeat this over and over until you feel calm and sleepy. It really works!
I have recently started a digital ban in my room. No phones or laptops at bed time. They are totally counteractive to winding down. Not only is the temptation there to check messages and Instagram, but the light and 3G from your phone interfere with your sleeping pattern. Leave them outside the room on and pop your mobile flight mode. It’s much nicer snuggling up to my boyfriend than falling asleep with my iPhone my hand…
If you need to set an alarm, get a clock. There are some great ones that wake you up gradually with light, like a simulated sunrise. So, get cosy and wind down with a good book instead.
