Things I’m Loving This Week…Great British Bake Off
Who else is loving Great British Bake Off? Afternoon tea and cake is such a tradition in the UK, it would be a shame if we couldn’t still enjoy it. Even if you don’t eat sugar, wheat or dairy you don’t have to be constricted. It is so easy to use healthy ingredients as an alternative. These are a few brilliant baking goodies which should get you going.. happy baking!
Now this is a serious gadget..and a pretty one too! This multifunctional mixer will whip up a delicious cake – or anything you want really in no time. It is surprisingly simple to use and perfect for a bunch of recipes. You can even get attachments to do pretty much anything, from a food processor to meat grinder! I love it when making my Carrot Cake Muffins or Lemon Drizzle Cake.
If this fun spatula doesn’t get you in the mood I don’t know what will! It is perfect for any GBBO fan and makes a lovely present. It has a super smooth texture, which makes it easy and enjoyable to use and hassle free to wash up. I love having my friends over and whether I am cooking for them or with them, these spatulas get us in the mood for our own bake off!
This beautiful blue loaf tin works wonders when baking my Gluten Free Buckwheat and Oat Bread. The good quality metal means it is non stick and the shape and the thickness of the tin helps to create a lovely shaped loaf with a delicious density. Ready for a crunchy peanut butter spread or dunking in a warming soup!
These cake tins are almost as pretty as the cakes! Baking is a wonderful way of get people together so I find a beautiful cake tin is always needed either if your on the go or if you have guests coming round.. I like to display them on my kitchen table before the big (cake) reveal!
Buckwheat is one of my favourites to bake with, it is organic, suitable for vegans and gluten free so you can beat the bloat! It has a wonderful nutty flavour and is super soft and versatile. It is also an excellent source of copper and magnesium and is one of my must have cupboard staples.
Coconut sugar is amazing for baking with, it is naturally sweet without spiking your blood sugar levels with a bunch of nutritional benefits. It is high in calcium, zinc, iron and antioxidants, so makes baking with it totally guilt free!
If you haven’t tried Ombar’s Chocolate Buttons yet, I seriously urge you to do so! As a kid I loved chocolate buttons and these are made from organic Ecuadorian cacao and are of course dairy and refined sugar free. They are great for an alternative sweet snack and are wonderful when baking to decorate cakes and cupcakes.
