5 Steps To Living Well

5 Steps To Living Well

I’ve always wanted to take care of myself but I guess since becoming pregnant I’ve wanted to focus more on looking after myself as it can often slip away when I’m working hard. So, I have put together for you 5 tips to living well I use every day to help me live my life to its fullest:

No matter what, move your body regularly

One of the worst things we can do is keep still, think what would happen to a bike if it sat there not being used, it would rust and bits would stop working. Always move! Take the stairs, walk to the corner shop and take a day trip to the park. Even just running the hoover around the house will keep that that beautiful body moving, your heart rate up and leave you feeling great. Remember – hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

Don’t dwell on the past – Set goals!

I love the saying don’t look backwards; you’re not going that way – because it’s so true! It’s so good to set yourself goals because when you achieve them it’s so rewarding, so forget about that job you didn’t get or that date who didn’t call and get out there again; the future is bright!

Discover your passion

Doing something you love is a sure-fire way to enjoy life. I love doing my yoga and studying too – in a weird way! Finding something which you enjoy doing is a great way of having fun but also a way of relaxing and switching your mind off from any other worries or stress you may be feeling.

Your time is valuable – Surround yourself with awesome people.

My mum always used to say be around people who build you up, not tear you down. You are amazing and you deserve to spend your precious time with people who believe that too. Ditch those negative voices and surround yourself with love and positivity.

Take time to relax and recharge…. No more negative self-talk.

As well as surrounding yourself with positive people, make sure that your little inner voice is being nice to you too! It’s so easy to compare yourself to others; especially with the world of social media at your fingertips at all times, but you are special and one-of-a-kind. Take time to stand in front of the mirror in the morning and tell yourself how wonderful you are.

Please share your tips for living well below, I love to hear your thoughts…

Great tips Madeleine, I’ve found practising gratitude every day has done wonders for me. Every night before I go to sleep I list (at least) 3 good things that have happened that day, it doesn’t have to be big important life events, it could be something as simple as meeting a friend for coffee or someone giving you a compliment. Focusing on the positive has really helped me shift my previou mindset which always tended to dwell on the negative. Hope to see you in Scotland on a book tour soon. :-)
